The mask mandate for K-12 students takes effect Sept. 7 – Oct. 15. VCS Board will reconvene Oct. 12 to decide further on mask mandates.

  • With the mask mandate being implemented, no talks of implementation or talks of extra curricular activates such as before and after school care and boys and girls club, where children would be forced to wear masks upwards of 10 hours a day.
  • Parents and protestors could be seen and heard yelling “We Will Not Comply” until the meeting concluded around 11:00 PM as the vote was passed with a 3-2 majority, protesters yelling “Shame on you”
  • With no data driven statistics to justify masking children, masks are proven to be potentially more dangerous to kids than the actual virus. But instead of relying on data it has become a politically motivated decision.
  • VCS Board Member Ruben Colón, who made the motion to require masks in schools was adamant about forcing a mandate with no clear plans of implementation and complete disregard for HB 241 – Parents’ Bill of Rights Act.
